Ballywarren
is located in Ireland's Lake District, the two main lakes being
Lough Corrib and Lough Mask. The area is also full of turloughs.
There are many ancient standing stones and burial cairns. Our
next door neighbours, Patrick and Mary O'Grady own the land on
which stands Ballymacgibbon Cairn, a 5000 year old monument.
It takes only 30 minutes to travel north
to Ballywarren from Galway city, and if you are travelling south
from Castlebar, the journey to our country house will take the
same length of time. Connemara National Park is only minutes away.
The
large scale map below shows our location with Cong on the left.
From there take the R346 east. We are where the red dot is marked
at Ballymacgibbon North and before the R334 junction at Cross.
